Tirana, Albania (9 April 2019) - Banka Kombëtare Tregtare has been selected as The Best Bank of Albania for 2019 by US magazine Global Finance* on its 26th annual awards for the World’s Best Banks, held on 12 March 2019.

Global Finance has chosen BKT based on performance and other criteria including reputation and management excellence. The selection process is completed with extensive consultations with corporate financial executives, analysts and bankers throughout the world. BKT has continued strong financial performance with record BoA profitability (68 mio USD) in line with strong IFRS capital base (435 mio USD) corresponding to an annual RoE of 19% and Capital adequacy ratio of 17,53% as at Dec-2018.

Asset size of BKT reaching to 29.4% is even higher than the total size of 2nd and 3rd bank (taken together) of the banking sector.

BKT is the biggest financier of Albanian economy aiming to bolster the economic growth by lending to business investments, public projects and individual needs, also is the biggest taxpayer in this country, taking in consideration the total amount among the last 4 years.

BKT has accelerated its innovation program to bring latest technological solutions to Albanian citizens to increase service quality and customer satisfaction.

Together with the “Bank of the year in Albania” award by Global Finance, BKT again this year completed major awards in the banking industry, receiving formerly "The Best Bank in Albania" by “The Banker”, “EMEA Finance” and AAA (Alb) by JCR Eurasia Rating.

Established in 1925 BKT is the largest and the oldest commercial Bank in Albania. With a total asset value of 3.9 billion USD and total deposits of 3.1 billion USD, BKT serves its customers through a network of 94 branches, out of which 67 are located in Albania and 27 in Kosovo.
